Ethical Elephant Tours in Luang Prabang, Laos
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin
The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?
David Attenborough
We have developed a new philosophy towards elephant tours…
Ethical Tours
We are strictly against the use of hooks and other cruel or violent practices.
study nature, love nature
Our relationship with our community is both give and take. We learn a lot about how to live with nature and we teach modern ways of elephant care.
Elphants first...but also humans
We make sure that our tours go on routes that do not disturb local farmers and in turn, they recommend routes that our elephants will enjoy more such as paths with lots of food!
Professional medical care
We bring in a professional veterinarian from Thailand if any health issues arise to make sure that our elephants are happy and healthy. However we deffer to the families that own our elephants to let us know if they are in distress.
Nature's great masterpiece, an elephant; the only harmless great thing.
John Donne
Intimate, Ethical, Elephant Tours
Mass tourism can destroy both a country and its nature. Elephant Shelter Luang Prabang takes a more relaxed route to discovery. We limit the amount of people we take per tour.
Seeing these majestic animals up close and in a state of bliss will not only ensure that you are doing the right thing, but also give you memories of a lifetime.
Our “Middle Way” philosophy was cerated with the local villagers and is a holistic method to both looking after our elephants and making sure that the community is happy.
